1876-1902 Epic DroughtsA series of epic droughts caused by the El Niño-Southern Oscillation climate pattern leads to dramatic crop failures in tropical areas around the world and lead to the largest famines in human history. Estimates vary but at least 30 million people died as a result in Brazil, India, and China.
