Three-crop Rotation
Europe
Three-field crop rotation is introduced in Europe. Land was divided into thirds – a third for spring planting, a third for fall planting, and a third left fallow. This allowed farmers to plant more crops and led to an increase in food production for both human consumption and horse feed. Scholars estimate an increased farm yield of 30-50 percent.
